the side effects

If you look at this, as well as any law, just like you would a medical perscription you would realize that  were a doctor to proscribe a dangerous medicine with unknown side effects to take care of a simple problem the way the politicans in this country create laws then they would not only lose thier license to practice but porbably be sued or jailed for it.  A progessive and positive society would look at not only the potential benifits to the laws but also the potential side effects as well.  How many dreams will this and many other laws like it destroy?  My personal passion is for cobras, and now thanks to thoughtless people and blanket laws of Washington state my dream is out of reach, I wanted to be a breeder and try to educate people.  I am now forced to move out of state or risk my freedom by commiting what is now considered a crime.  If a permit was required I would get it.  It could even be more revenue for the state, I don't care I just want to be able to pursue my happieness and I thought that was what America was supposed to be about.  I would never tell someone else who I merely dont understand that they couldn't have something they loved, I guess our "leaders" dont have that kind of respect for us.  If this law passes it will fully destroy the one thing I want to do with my life, and how many more peoples' dreams will have to die in thier hands before these inhuman things known as politcains are happy?  And if anyone has the gaul to tell me or anyone how is upset by any law that were either whining, crazy, or just looking for a fight I have only this to say to them: I guess the people who spoke out against slavery, segragation, worker expliotation, and all the other injustices that brave proud Americans worked so hard to stop were just whining too.  Isnt it a good thing they didn't just give up because there was a law, think where we would be if they had?  Even if it doesn't affect you individualy it doesn't change how wrong it is.

There can be no justice when laws are absoulute, and when has justice been as simple as rules in a book?

... that the "science" behind the claim that Burms in the Everglades are harming the ecosystem is just as much garbage as everything else.   So it's not at all proven that there really is much of a problem even in Florida.   And also, please don't perpetuate that myth that irresponsible owners are to blame for breeding populations of burms in the Everglades.  All the evidence points to Hurricane Andrew as the major, if not the only, cause of that.  And some of the few the pythons found recently (which made national news), well, let's just say they look suspicious.  Heck, one guy was busted for "planting" a python.

Anyway, this seems like a great website and a great organization!

Thanks,

Ed

This is crazy! out of all the animals that are turned lose on the streets by lowlifes they pick snakes to ban. what about the over breed dog breeds and cats! when I start to see snakes roaming the streets as much as dog and cats then i will become concerned. You should not ban snakes for a few careless uneducated people that think snakes are cool until they get big a cost alot of money for houseing feeding and vet bills! I think they should start with taking care of the largest problems instead of picking little ones. Maybe  they should start helping these poor animals on the streets beofre crying over a few snakes that were let loose and someone got scared when they  came looking for food in  their back yead!

they need to rethink banning the big 9 constrictors... That they are turning this into a black
market... And making it a felony for one to transport snakes across state lines!!!
Our jails are stuffed beyond capacity, and they are going to make snake owning/transporting a
felony??? Give me a friggin break... Our state can't afford this right now.
We have enough felonies for people who smoke POT, much less snakes? This is going to be a
HUGE government expense...And they havn't shown me data that proves the ecology is in
danger from these pythons... 1 species of python mind you... In one area of the country
If their so conserned about these snakes over populating in the wild, or hurting people,
then force us to register them like we do a firearm. put a pet tracking chip, that way the
officials will know who is responsible, or who messed up. but...to punish responible pet
owners, and make it a felony is outrages

So Stupid

This is ridiculous.  The only place that snakes are being released and are affecting wildlife is in southern florida and they are working diligently to fix the burmese and african rock problem.  This will cause more of it in all places because there are hundreds of thousands of people who will be affected by it.  It is also bad for the economy for it will be putting thousands of people out of a job.  Please help.
This is ridiculous!

As a 13 year old snake lover. I am absolutely apalled by this nonsense. This bill is meant to keep people from releasing their snakes into the wild. In reality this bill is going to make just that happen. Ive put flyers up in my school and posted this hoax all over the web, we can only hope that we as a group do enough to stop this bill.

Well first off I want to say, Adam thank you. The work you are doing is hands down the most I have seen by one single group so far... As for the ban, The ban is ridiculous and ludicrous, I live in South Carolina and I also keep, raise and breed Burmese Pythons with my wife and I will tell you now the U.S.G.S. report is wrong, there is no way a Burmese Python could survive the winter here. This ban stands to take pets and livelihoods from hard working, tax paying Americans. It seems the democrats have nothing better to do than try to take money out of tax paying Americana's pockets in this sad economic time. Please even if you have no snakes or can't stand them, please send in the emails, because it wont stop there, H.R. 669 will come right back up and that one will ban ALL non-native animals of which there are many, many breeds of dog and cat, gerbils, hamsters, ferrets, many species of birds and parrots as well as a multitude of fish. S373 is just a stepping stone for the government and groups... See More like H.S.U.S and P.E.T.A. to stick their nubby little fingers all up in our lives slowly but surely removing all of our privileges.

Thanks,

Sam Bearden

I just wanted to start the comment board off by thanking all of the organizations like USARK, PIJAC, REXANO, NAIA, and others that are helping in this fight. Also, to all of the people that have emailed, called, made appointments for meetings, passed out fliers, donated money, and help to spread the word ... you all ROCK!

If we stick together, we can make a difference!
